Roman Thoms The family of Roman Thoms of Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Bruno, SK), sadly announces his passing on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Humboldt District Hospital. He was 87 years of age. Roman was born on May 30, 1933, to Nick and Mary (nee Smood) Thoms at home on their farm in the Bruno district. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Rita (nee Dust) Thoms; son, Barry (Kimberly) Thoms, and their children, Deagan and Rayna; son, Byron (Noreen) Thoms; and daughter-in-law, Carrie (Darren) and her children, Breanna and Terran. He is also survived by his sister, Annie; brother, Frank (Jean); sister, Helen (Dave); sisters-in-law, Olga and Lydia; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Roman was predeceased by two sons, Gerard Thoms, and Derek Thoms; parents, Nick and Mary (nee Smood) Thoms; four brothers: John Thoms, Peter (Elizabeth) Thoms, Ernest Thoms, and a brother in infancy; brother-in-law, Joe; and by two nephews, Brian and Eugene. Roman was born on the farm and lived on the homestead quarter near Bruno until his retirement in 1998, when he and Rita moved to Humboldt. In his retirement years, he enjoyed helping out at the farm, playing cards, and having coffee with friends. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Pius Shroh. The organist was Jamie White, and the scripture readers were Shirley Leonew and Sherry Kulbida. Pallbearers were Wayne Thoms, Laverne Thoms, Gordon Thoms, and Richard Thoms. Interment followed at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Cemetery. |
